Hudson Valley Opioid Epidemic Documentary to be Screened at Ѹ

Not My Child to be Followed by Discussion with Filmmaker and Community Leaders

Hyde Park, NY – Ѹ presents Not My Child, a compelling short documentary about the opioid epidemic in the Hudson Valley and its effect on our children, families, and the local community. The film is based on the deaths of several young adults from the Hudson Valley in recent years. It will be shown in the Marriott Pavilion on the Ѹ campus in Hyde Park at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5. Admission is free.

The screening will followed by a Q&A panel with filmmaker Vivian Lanzarone, area health officials, and other community leaders. The public is encouraged to attend this important look at the crisis in our community that seems to simmer just below the surface—until it directly affects you or someone you know.

“Opioid addiction is an equal opportunity offender,” says Christiane Mueller, LCSW, director of the Ѹ’s Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). “It could be affecting our students, our family, our friends, and people in our local community.”

The panel discussion is scheduled to end at approximately 10 p.m. The evening is sponsored by the CAPS office at the Ѹ.
